Criminal prosecution is neither the first nor will it be the last for me. What is the commission for? Nothing. — This is what Nika Gvaramia, leader of the "Coalition for Change," told journalists at the court, where he is responding to questions from the prosecution before a magistrate judge for failing to appear at the session of the temporary investigative commission.

According to him, he considers the opposition’s decision to attend the commission’s session a mistake.

"Yesterday made it clear that this is an attempt to distract, a propagandistic nonsense that gets the whole society talking about it. That’s why I think attending it was a mistake by the opposition. On the other hand, these actions contain elements of betrayal of the national interest. What we’re seeing is that the government is doing everything it can to produce a final conclusion suggesting that Georgia was guilty in the war, not Russia," Gvaramia stated.

He considers the attendance of Giorgi Gakharia, leader of For Georgia, at the commission a “grave mistake.” When asked whether this violated the agreement formed within the format initiated by Salome Zurabishvili, Gvaramia replied:

"Let Salome Zurabishvili evaluate that. She was the initiator of the agreement, but I consider Mr. Gakharia’s attendance a grave mistake. In my opinion, this does not harm the fight for Georgia’s independence and the effort to change the regime — if anyone is harmed by it, it’s Mr. Gakharia," said Nika Gvaramia.
