Salome Zurabishvili: We are starting work on establishing a preparatory committee for May 26

According to Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, she plans to organize the celebration of Independence Day on Rustaveli Avenue together with various members of society.

She made this statement during a briefing held today.

"Another issue we discussed and are beginning to work on with various representatives of society is the creation of a preparatory committee for May 26, so that we can plan our May 26 — that of the people, not just of our platform. This is a celebration of the independence of our country for all of us. At a time when this independence is under threat due to this illegitimate government, due to the ruling party, we must defend independence. We must defend it where we always celebrate May 26 — on Rustaveli Avenue. We will plan this together, with representatives from different segments of society," said Salome Zurabishvili.
