Irakli Karseladze has resigned from his position as Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure. He will be replaced by Revaz Sokhadze, a member of the Tbilisi City Council and majoritarian deputy of the Samgori district.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing held at the Government Administration.
According to the Prime Minister, Karseladze submitted his resignation request yesterday. Kobakhidze assessed Karseladze’s tenure as successful and thanked him for his service.
“Irakli Karseladze has decided to step down from his government position. He submitted the relevant request yesterday, and we had a conversation about it. First of all, I would like to thank Irakli Karseladze, who led the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure with great success for many years. During this time, under his leadership, numerous important projects were implemented – in the areas of road construction, water supply, solid waste management, development of educational and sports infrastructure, municipal development, and many more. Once again, I want to express my gratitude to Irakli Karseladze for his work and the many successful projects carried out under his leadership,” Kobakhidze said.
“I would also like to introduce Revaz Sokhadze, who has been appointed as the new Minister. He is a long-standing member of our political team. He received his education at Tbilisi State University, first in medicine and later in finance. He worked in high-level managerial positions in the private sector for years. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Tbilisi City Council, majoritarian representative of the Samgori district, and chairman of the Urban Development Commission. I wish Revaz Sokhadze success in his new role as Minister,” the Prime Minister added.
