As part of his visit to the United States, the First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, held a meeting at the White House, at the National Security Council, where he met with Andrew Peek, Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director for European Affairs at the National Security Council, the Ministry of Economy of Georgia reports.
According to them, Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze also participated in the meetings held at the White House.
“As part of the visit to the United States, the meeting held at the White House was particularly and exceptionally important and eloquent. It was very important to discuss with the new administration the priorities that the Georgian Dream government has and which are fully in line with the visions of President Trump, and I think, based on the fact that there is a very close convergence of positions, there are many prospects for cooperation. We talked about the opportunities that our two countries may have under the new administration," said First Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili.
According to him, it is regrettable that the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries was formally suspended under the previous administration.
"There is a very strong position in the leadership of the new administration that this strategic cooperation should not only continue, but also deepen and move to a new stage in terms of quality and quantity, which will be beneficial for both countries," said the First Vice Prime Minister.
As part of the visit, Levan Davitashvili held meetings at the US Department of State, the Departments of Commerce and the Treasury, and the Office of the Trade Representative, as well as with top management representatives of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
