The goal is to intimidate human rights organizations, they are the main target of these repressions, - Aleko Tskitishvili, director of the Human Rights Center, said in response to the searches conducted at the homes of several fund managers.

As Aleko Tskitishvili stated on PalitraNews TV, with such actions “Ivanishvili’s regime is writing his own verdict.

“Ultimately, the main goal is to intimidate, on the one hand, human rights organizations, who are the main target of these repressions, and on the other hand, people who watch these attacks on representatives of civil organizations. Ivanishvili’s regime thinks that this will change something in people’s consciousness, to intimidate them, but I think that such actions weaken the regime itself. This injustice and violence have the opposite effect on people. Ivanishvili’s regime is writing his own verdict with such actions,” Aleko Tskitishvili stated.

According to Aleko Tskitishvili, the fund was transferring money directly to the state treasury account to cover the fines of civil activists, so “there was nothing illegal about this.”

“We established the fund to pay fines for the activists participating in civil protests. The money was directly transferred to the state treasury account, so it is inconceivable that there was any illegal activity in this regard,” said Aleko Tskitishvili.

For information, representatives of the Prosecutor's Office searched the apartments of activists Mariam Bajelidze and Mariam Geguchadze, as well as Aleko Tskitishvili, the head of the non-governmental organization Human Rights Center.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, the case concerns an investigation ongoing into the facts of sabotage, attempted sabotage under aggravating circumstances, assistance to a foreign organization or an organization under foreign control in hostile activities, and mobilization of funds for activities directed against the constitutional order and foundations of national security of Georgia.
