Europe demands the release of Mikheil Saakashvili and all political prisoners, holding new elections in Georgia, and returning the country to the path of European integration, Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the United National Movement, said in response to the adoption of a resolution on Georgia by the European People's Party at its congress.
According to Bokuchava, the resolution on Georgia adopted by the most influential European party is a significant support for the European choice of the Georgian people.
“This was the kind of congress that was attended by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the Chancellor of Germany, the President of the European Parliament Roberta Mezzola. We met with all these people to protect Georgia’s European future.
The resolution calls for the expansion of the sanctions policy in order to restrain the Russian regime and return Georgia to the path of European development. For this, new parliamentary elections must be held and political prisoners must be released. We are talking specifically about the release of Mikheil Saakashvili. Therefore, Europe demands the release of Mikheil Saakashvili, all political prisoners, and the holding of new elections in Georgia and the return of the country to the path of European integration,” said Tina Bokuchava, whose comments were released by the party’s press service.
