Members of the Resistance Platform created by the fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, met with the EU Ambassador to Georgia and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

As Salome Zurabishvili stated after the meeting, it was an introductory meeting, where the ambassadors got acquainted with the format of the platform’s work.

According to Zurabishvili, the platform is preparing for the parliamentary elections and the formation of a coalition government. As she noted, there are serious fluctuations in the ruling team, which gives hope that parliamentary elections will be held soon.

“This was the first meeting in this format. The Resistance Platform met with all the representatives and ambassadors of the European Union. The EU ambassador himself attended the meeting.

This was the first such joint meeting, where we presented the format of our work, procedures, and participants, the rules of this platform. Also, the fact that this platform works in coordination with various segments of our society, which are themselves organized in various ways, this applies to the business sector, the cultural sector, NGOs and protest participants, who are organized in their own groups, and we, along with all this, are trying to form political positions and thus we have the ambition to actually prepare a coalition government.

We are taking the issue seriously that parliamentary elections will undoubtedly be scheduled, that is, we must be ready not only for the elections, and this was an issue that was raised here and on which we voiced our positions, but we should also be ready for the day after the elections, that is, for a coalition government.

This process that is taking place among us is precisely the preparation for this. We have very little experience with this. The experience of the countries that attended our meeting today is that it is difficult to form coalition governments, and the fact that we are preparing for this in advance is a sign of how seriously we view the future.

There are many signs that there are fluctuations in the ruling power, and this is what also gives us great hope that we are moving along the path that will lead us to new parliamentary elections.

There was also a discussion about the EU's policy towards us. Once again, we heard that within the EU itself there are different positions of different countries, but, despite this, they are watching very closely what is happening in Georgia today," Zurabishvili noted.
