“We should call it the so-called harmful act, because it has nothing to do with friendship, with our Georgian state, or with Georgia’s interests – this is Wilson’s madness,” said Georgian Dream MP Irakli Zarkua, speaking to journalists about the MEGOBARI Act.
According to him, the MEGOBARI Act is worthless to them and holds no value or interest.
“For example, my 'Khabe' has more authority. He carries more weight than Wilson. This is Wilson’s madness. Do you know which congressman Wilson is? The one who invited the Khazaradzes, charged them a lot of money for inauguration tickets, and then left them standing in the rain. He’s a fraud – a congressman who sells flags, emblems, and things like that to make money. This is the kind of man, with such values and morals, who authored this so-called act, which claims Georgia has supposedly abandoned European values and its course just because we signed an agreement with China and want to bring them into the Anaklia port.
Personally, I held seven briefings, and our leaders even more, trying to interest the Americans in the Anaklia port – they showed no interest, not once. And now they scold us for engaging with China? What’s left of the EU – France or other countries – haven’t they signed alliance agreements or memorandums with China themselves? And we shouldn’t do the same? So, you’re allowed to pass a transparency law, and we’re not? For us, this so-called act is worthless. It holds no interest or value. And it was supported by people who once backed Trump’s impeachment. Do you think they would spare us? Trump doesn’t need any extra acts to sanction one of our leaders or the country.
This is just something cobbled together by Wilson and pushed by a whole army of Democrats hired by certain lobbying groups – around 300 people – and some Republicans too, who themselves supported Trump’s impeachment. Would those people spare us? Of course not.
Finally, US-Georgian relations are normalizing. Let me remind you of a few things: remember that White House spokesperson who looked like Lucifer – Matthew Miller – there wasn’t a day he didn’t smear our country with sanctions and all kinds of craziness. That’s over. Do you see anyone mentioning Georgia now? A Georgian delegation visited under Davitashvili’s leadership, along with the National Bank, and held important meetings. So, normalization is underway. Now they’re trying to sort out their own mess. Everything will be fine.
It’s the troublemakers who are celebrating here – let them run around. They’re all Wilsons and Goncharenkos themselves, let them enjoy what they’ve done. We’ll keep working,” Zarkua stated.
He also commented on former President Salome Zurabishvili’s initiative to create an organizing committee for May 26.
“Someone should tell Salome Zurabishvili that she’s no longer the president,” Zarkua said.
“Anyone who still believes in this delusional woman – first she created the Charter, and some people joined, some didn’t. Then she said the Charter didn’t work out and announced the Resistance Platform. Some people were skeptical. Now, apparently, there has to be a May 26 Committee. Someone tell her – she’s not the president anymore. Is she trying to claim the parade? Even ‘Khabe’ won’t go – he’s mad at her. No one will show up. At most, ‘Chergo’ might hiss and ‘Boku’ – Bokuchava – will come. It’s not her job to claim or organize the parade.
They’ve got another madman who said we’ll hold elections with mobile phones in September – go ahead and charge them, then. I’m telling you, that’s their idea. Maybe they’ll falsify the elections with mobile phones and conduct them by fax, then grant legitimacy afterwards. How can we talk seriously about these people? It’s a race of lunatics,” Zarkua concluded.
