Giorgi Vashadze: Thank you to our American friends for the unprecedentedly unanimous adoption of the ‘MEGOBARI Act’ — I call on everyone being used by the regime: distance yourselves now! While there’s still time, break away — later it will be too late

“Thank you to our American friends for the unprecedented, unanimous adoption of the ‘MEGOBARI Act’ — this is a direct response to the violent regime,” said Strategy Aghmashenebeli leader Giorgi Vashadze regarding the U.S. House of Representatives' support for the MEGOBARI Act.

According to him, anyone who opposes Georgia’s path toward becoming an EU member state and a strong nation, in line with the will of the Georgian people, will face severe actions from the United States.

“Thank you to our American friends for adopting the ‘MEGOBARI Act’ with such unity — an unprecedented consensus. The Act is a direct answer to the violent regime, showing that a strong America will never abandon the Georgian people or our struggle. Any regime attempting to undermine the democratic system, seize the country, or fight against the will of the people will receive a clear response from our ally, the United States.

This is truly an unprecedented document, outlining concrete measures that may be implemented by the U.S. It was passed with a rare bipartisan consensus — supported by both Republicans and Democrats.

I want to tell Ivanishvili and representatives of his regime — no matter how hard you try, we will fight to the end, and as you can see, our struggle, the people’s resistance, is already yielding concrete results. We will take this fight to the finish. Georgia will become a member of the European Union. Georgia will be a strong partner to a strong America and a strong Europe — a regional leader.

No matter how much you want the U.S. and Europe to abandon us, to leave us at the mercy of our enemies, you will not succeed.

To every person currently being used by the regime, I say: distance yourselves! While you still can, separate yourselves — because later, you won’t be able to do anything. If you don’t care for yourselves, at least care about your children — the future generation whose prospects you are destroying.

To Ivanishvili, Kobakhidze, and the group around them, I say: you are directly obstructing Georgia’s development. You are blocking EU integration, friendship with a strong America, and partnership with a strong Europe — and for what? Just to cling to power, nothing more.

We want visa-free travel to the U.S., we want American investment, we want European investment, we want EU membership, we want the billions Moldova received — and which we couldn’t receive because of you. That’s what we want.

This is the difference between us and you. The MEGOBARI Act draws a very clear line. Anyone opposing Georgia’s EU membership and statehood — in line with the people’s will — will face very harsh actions from the U.S., including sanctions and more.

But before you sanction yourselves, break away from this regime and come to your senses. Listen to the people. To society, I say: yes, your struggle, our struggle, has results. Thank you for the ongoing protests and your unwavering resistance. We will win.
