By the decision of the Government of Georgia, the Georgian national handball team will be awarded a cash prize of one million GEL for qualifying for the European Championship. This information was released by the Administration of the Government of Georgia.
According to the same source, the relevant decree was signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
"The Georgian national handball team defeated the Greek national team today in a decisive match held at Tbilisi Arena and earned the right to compete in the European Championship for the second consecutive time.
The match was attended by the Prime Minister together with the President and members of the government. Irakli Kobakhidze thanked the players of the national handball team, congratulated them on the victory, and wished them success," the statement says.
Georgia's national team will compete in the European Championship. The Georgian team defeated Greece with a score of 29–26.
