May 9 marks 80 years since victory over fascism in World War II

Today, May 9, marks 80 years since the victory over fascism in World War II. World War II went down in history as the largest and bloodiest conflict.

The war, which lasted from 1941 to 1945, claimed the lives of 300,000 Georgians. The fighting took place on the territory of 40 states.

It is noteworthy that in a number of countries around the world, Victory Day over Fascism is celebrated on May 8, which some members of the public also called on the Georgian government to do, although their position was not shared.
