There is some kind of march planned by the opposition on the occasion of Europe Day. There is democracy in Georgia, they can hold any march, what assessment can be made in this regard, - Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
As he explains, he doubts the sincerity of the opposition.
"We doubt their sincerity. You remember, it was precisely this opposition that directly opposed Georgia's candidate status, they directly campaigned against Georgia receiving candidate status in 2022 and later, they boycotted the working groups without any justification. Therefore, of course, we doubt the sincerity of these people, but there is democracy and they can hold any march," - Kobakhidze stated.
When asked whether he plans to attend the EU embassy event today, the Prime Minister gave a negative answer.
"Since the protocol is not observed, we are deprived of the opportunity to participate. If the protocol had been observed, of course, we would have participated," Kobakhidze said.
According to him, the embassy violated the protocol.
"There is a protocol when a specific embassy plans an event, they should send an invitation to the government. Since they violated this protocol and continued the Soviet approach that specific European officials demonstrate, the protocol was violated, therefore, we will not be there. This is their decision, which was made with Soviet approaches."
