The Georgian Parliament will adopt a special statement in response to the MEGOBARI Act supported by the US House of Representatives.
The draft statement has already been initiated in the Parliament. The initiators are the Chairman of the Parliament, the leaders of the Georgian Dream faction, as well as the political groups in the Parliament.
The draft statement has been submitted to the Foreign Relations Committee for consideration. Its discussion will take place at the session tomorrow.
The rapporteur on the Parliament’s statement will be Shalva Papuashvili, who said that the Georgian Parliament will definitely state its position on the MEGOBARI Act adopted by the US House of Representatives.
“Today, the society saw the Prime Minister’s letter to the US President, which, among other things, refers to the MEGOBARI Act. At the same time, a parliamentary statement was prepared with the participation of the faction and political groups in the Parliament, regarding the MEGOBARI Act. The statement contains our assessments and response to this act.
The so-called MEGOBARI Act was renamed. What we read there was everything except friendship. It is based not only on false facts, but in its essence is a distortion of the reality that exists in Georgia.
Our goal is to show everyone what the reality is and make our assessment based on arguments and solid facts. What we saw in the form of the “MEGOBARI Act” adopted by the US in the House, contradicts any understanding of friendship,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
