Irakli Kobakhidze: We hope that, in the end, President Trump's administration will be able to reduce and weaken the influence of the Deep State, and in that case, nothing will stand in the way of rebooting Georgian-American relations

"We hope that, in the end, President Trump’s administration will be able to reduce and weaken the influence of the Deep State," – said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists in Albania.

According to the head of government, in such a case, nothing will stand in the way of rebooting Georgian-American relations.

"We are in a state of expectation. Once again, we expressed our interest in resetting relations. From the beginning, there was a positive public expectation when President Trump was elected, and that expectation was related to the idea that under the new administration, relations between Georgia and the United States would fundamentally change. This expectation had a solid foundation — a strong ideological and value-based alignment, which is clearly evident from public statements. I’m referring to the alignment between the new governments of Georgia and the United States. Based on this alignment, of course, there was an expectation. Once again, we can express an optimistic attitude regarding all of this. We hope that, ultimately, President Trump’s administration will be able to reduce and weaken the influence of the Deep State, and in that case, I believe nothing will stand in the way of rebooting Georgian-American relations," said Irakli Kobakhidze.
