The Georgian State Security Service: Three Georgian citizens illegally detained by Russian occupation forces near Khurvaleti — One released, two remain in detention

According to the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG), representatives of the Russian occupation forces illegally detained three Georgian citizens on the occupied territory near the village of Khurvaleti, in the Gori Municipality. One of the detainees has already been released and is now on territory controlled by the central government, while the other two remain in illegal detention.

“Immediately upon receiving information about the incident, the ‘hotline’ mechanism, operating with the involvement of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM), was activated by the State Security Service of Georgia.

The information has been promptly shared with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and international partners.

All available mechanisms have been activated to ensure the swift release of the illegally detained Georgian citizens.

The Russian occupation forces bear full responsibility for all destructive actions committed on the occupied territories of Georgia, as well as along the occupation line,” the statement reads.
