Shalva Papuashvili: It is alarming that the embassies of the European Union and Sweden do not react to the incitement to extremism with the money of their citizens

Calling the government elected by the people “illegitimate” is, along with disinformation, a denial of democratic institutions, and the goal of not recognizing democracy is to create an ideological base for extremism, - the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili writes on the social network.

As Shalva Papuashvili states, it is alarming that the embassies of the European Union and Sweden do not react to the incitement to extremism with the money of their citizens.

“Calling the government elected by the people “illegitimate” is, along with disinformation, a denial of democratic institutions. The goal of not recognizing democracy is to create an ideological base for extremism. The NGO Transparency International Georgia, registered in Estonia, has the largest funding from the European Commission and the Swedish budget. It is alarming that the embassies of the European Union and Sweden do not react to the incitement to extremism with the money of their citizens. Responsible donation is not a choice, but an international legal obligation, which is reinforced by the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. Its violation is a violation of the rules-based international order.

P.S. To exclude speculation, I will also say here that this is not an “attack”, but “legitimate criticism” that needs a response,” writes Shalva Papuashvili.
