According to the leader of the United National Movement, Tina Bokuchava, during a meeting with the EU Ambassador to Georgia, they discussed the arrest and repression of one of the leaders of the Coalition for Change, Zurab Japaridze.
In addition, after the meeting, Bokuchava refrained from discussing the ambassador's position, although she noted that one of the topics of the conversation was the revocation of recognition of Georgia's occupied regions by the new Syrian government.
“I really can’t speak about the ambassador’s positions. I can repeat what issues we raised – first of all, this is the arrest of Zura Japaridze and in general, the political repression that we see in the country, which is anti-national and contradicts everything that we have been doing for many years to become part of European civilization, not only civilizationally, but also institutionally, and to join the European Union. We also talked about the withdrawal of recognition of our occupied regions by the new Syrian government. This issue is also important for the European Union,” Bokuchava said.
According to her, the entire Georgian diplomacy should work on this issue.
“Unfortunately, Georgian diplomacy and all state institutions are only engaged in serving Ivanishvili’s Russian regime. Therefore, we are obliged to protect the interests of our country,” Bokuchava said.
For information, Tina Bokuchava, the chairwoman of the United National Movement, along with one of the party's leaders, Zurab Chiaberashvili, met with the European Union Ambassador at the office of the European Union Delegation in Georgia.
