One of the leaders of the “Federalists,” Tamar Chergoleishvili, stated that the final working meeting was held with Georgia's fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, in connection with May 26.

As Chergoleishvili explains, on that day various marches are planned at different times and places, culminating at 7:00 PM, when Salome Zurabishvili will address the gathered public.

“We want this day to be something that unites all Georgians who hold independence dear. We know that there are even those who may currently support the status quo entirely by mistake. The spirit of the events we’re organizing for May 26 is that there is much more that unites us than divides us — this is Georgia’s independence, and it is under threat by facing Russia alone.

From around 3:00–4:00 PM, various marches will begin. It’s a very decentralized protest, and I really like that each group is implementing its own program, spreading across Rustaveli Avenue, from the Rustaveli Theater to the Palace of Youth. The culmination will be at 7:00 PM, when Georgia’s President will address the gathered people. Everything is explicitly peaceful, friendly to everyone who holds Georgia’s independence dear, and hostile to those who do not,” Chergoleishvili said.

She added that at the meeting with Zurabishvili, they also discussed how to avoid expected provocations.

“This was the last working meeting, and we talked about how to ensure that we don’t fall for provocations, what plan ‘B’ might be — we’ve arranged everything. Although the ‘Platform’ announced this rally, it’s actually a broader event — many political parties and civil organizations do not fully support the ‘Platform,’ and it has simply expanded. A committee was formed that includes civil organizations and protest participants. There are many people involved, and despite my skepticism, some agreements were still reached, which I’m glad about,” Chergoleishvili stated.
