Shalva Papuashvili: Today, a delegation from the European Parliament is arriving, led by a Lithuanian deputy known for their fascist statements. Hopefully, the first thing they’ll do on Georgian soil is to apologize

On the occasion of this day, a certain delegation from the European Parliament is arriving, headed by a Lithuanian deputy who has made fascist statements against the Georgian people.

I hope the first thing they do when they set foot on Georgian soil is to apologize to the Georgian people for their fascist statements, – this is what the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, told journalists at Freedom Square, responding to the fact that, on Georgia’s Independence Day, an evening rally in Tbilisi will likely be joined by European parliamentarian Rasa Juknevičienė.

He also stated, “It’s being confirmed at every step that those who embrace Saakashvili and those who once propped up his government can never, by definition, become friends of Georgia.”

“We see that, on the occasion of this day, a certain delegation from the European Parliament is arriving, headed by a Lithuanian deputy who has distinguished themselves with fascist statements against the Georgian people. I hope the first thing they do when they set foot on Georgian soil is to apologize to the Georgian people for these fascist statements. This is the clearest example that a friend of Saakashvili can never, by definition, be a friend of Georgia. Those who embrace Saakashvili, who once propped up his government, can never, by definition, become friends of Georgia, and this is being confirmed at every step,” Papuashvili stated.
