“Regarding the case of Giorgi Bachiashvili, naturally, the State Security Service will disseminate information, this is their function, their responsibility. Ensuring the rule of law in all directions is very important, and naturally, law enforcement agencies are responsible for this. Once again, thank you to the State Security Service. I cannot answer you on any of the details,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.
As for the version that Bachiashvili’s detention is connected with the withdrawal of Zurab Pololikashvili’s candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization, according to the Prime Minister, this is an insulting version.
"This is a version that is offensive in many ways and it is wrong to spread such versions. We know who spreads such versions and they have no boundaries when it comes to the interests of the state. As for Zurab Pololikashvili, I explained what was the reason for withdrawing his candidacy and it had nothing to do with anything else. The reason was that he insulted the state. What other details are involved here?! This decision was made much earlier than the decision on other issues, therefore this is empty speculation," Kobakhidze said.
