Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze thanked the former Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, for his service and noted that he played a particularly important role in preventing four attempted revolutions.

As Irakli Kobakhidze stated during a briefing at the party office, Vakhtang Gomelauri made the decision to resign in a calm situation, and the team granted his request.

"As you know, today Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri resigned from the post of Minister of Internal Affairs. He made this decision himself and approached us with this request a few days ago. It was very disappointing for us, but the entire team understood his decision. Mr. Vakhtang was the longest-serving minister. For more than 10 years, he served as Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of the State Security Service, and Vice Prime Minister of Georgia. This is not an easy job—it requires a lot of energy. Accordingly, he made the decision to resign in a calm situation, approached us with this request, and we granted it.

I want to thank Vakhtang Gomelauri for his loyal and dignified service to the state over all these years. We all remember that he took on the role of minister in very difficult circumstances, yet he quickly managed to make changes in the Ministry and, throughout these years, he has performed his duties as Minister of Internal Affairs at a high professional level, ensuring the public safety of our country.

I would also like to highlight separately that over the past four years, Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri played a particularly important role in preventing four attempted revolutions. His contribution here is outstanding, and for that, he deserves special thanks. Mr. Vakhtang is a dignified man, and I want to wish him success in his future endeavors. He is our friend, and I wish him all the best in everything," stated Kobakhidze.
