Along with the refusal, we offered the US Ambassador a meeting with the Prime Minister – the Prime Minister is under neither formal nor informal sanctions, and therefore, he cannot have any complexes related to personal blackmail,” wrote Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and honorary chairman of “Georgian Dream,” in a special statement responding to today’s statement from the US Embassy in Georgia.

Ivanishvili also notes that the ambassador refused this offer.

“The ambassador refused, which strengthens our belief that they consider personal blackmail to be the leading factor in the Georgian side’s potential decisions regarding the state’s interests.

They might say that, as the founder and honorary chairman of the ruling party, I have a special influence on decision-making. However, I want to assure you that in the ruling party, no fundamental decision is made without the involvement of the team and, especially, the Prime Minister. Therefore, the sole demand for a meeting with me can only be explained by the fact that such a meeting would only have value against the background of personal blackmail.

I hope that the American Embassy will respond positively to the Georgian government’s proposal to restart and renew Georgian-American strategic partnership from a clean slate with a concrete roadmap. Each leader of Georgia’s government expresses full readiness, in case of real interest from the American side, to actively engage in the process of resetting Georgian-American relations,” said Bidzina Ivanishvili in his statement.
