Salome Zurabishvili: I met with Senator Daines, who only met with us, the opposition, in Tbilisi, and this is significant

According to Georgia’s fifth President, Salome Zurabishvili, on behalf of the “Resistance Platform,” she met with U.S. Senator Steve Daines, who is visiting Georgia.

As she stated at a briefing held today, she provided the senator with information regarding issues in the country.

“Today, on behalf of the platform, I met with Senator Daines. The American senator, a Republican, is visiting the Caucasus. He was first in Baku, then heading to Yerevan, and he is also here in Tbilisi, where he met only with us, the opposition. This is very significant. He heard not only about the domestic issues here and the series of legal violations we presented, but also about the strategic challenges that exist for the U.S. in this region and in Georgia, which require significant attention from America,” Salome Zurabishvili stated.

For reference, the U.S. Embassy has released information stating that Senator Steve Daines, a member of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is visiting Georgia and has scheduled meetings with representatives of the government and political parties.
