Irakli Kobakhidze met with the Head of Mission and Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with Alejandro Hajdenberg, Head of Mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Jeroen Kremers, the Fund’s Executive Director, and Andrew Jewell, the IMF’s Resident Representative in Georgia. The information was released by the Government Administration.

According to the statement, the meeting focused on Georgia’s economic growth dynamics, macroeconomic stability, and the crucial role of the IMF in the implementation of structural reforms.

The Prime Minister emphasized the state-owned enterprise management reform, which is one of the key recommendations of the IMF, noting that the process is actively ongoing to maximize the efficiency of state-owned enterprises.

The discussion also addressed the country’s progress in market diversification, improvement of regional trade relations, capital market development, and the strengthening of energy security.

The Prime Minister noted that Georgia values its close cooperation with the IMF and appreciates the Fund’s forecasts, which align with those of the Georgian government.

The Head of Mission and the IMF Executive Director, who are visiting Georgia as part of the IMF’s Article IV Consultation Mission, expressed readiness for continued close cooperation with the Government of Georgia.
