When representatives of the "United National Movement" and "Akhali" receive instructions from abroad, I believe they will change their decision, even though it will be extremely humiliating for them – but they are ready to accept any humiliation, said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists regarding the upcoming local elections.
He added that the opposition is being told what to do from the outside and is incapable of making decisions independently.
"Despite the loud statements made by representatives of the 'United National Movement' and 'Akhali', I think they may end up going back on everything they've said. Today, they are bullying representatives of other opposition parties simply because they want to take part in the local elections. But once they receive instructions from abroad, I believe they’ll change their decision, even if it is extremely humiliating for them. First they bullied others for wanting to participate, and then they themselves will join the elections – of course that will be degrading for them. But they’ve signed up for such humiliations many times in the past," – Kobakhidze stated.
He also responded to a question about why members of the opposition were at the British Embassy, saying that they "go to various foreign offices to receive instructions and assignments."
"The approach of our opposition is that they go around collecting instructions – they don’t even have their own opinions. They’re basically ordinary agents, going to different foreign offices to get directions and tasks.
The good part is that these tasks are leading to the destruction of the opposition itself. It's hard to have a real feel for the situation from abroad, and as a result, they receive instructions that only further ruin the opposition. Let them go to such meetings, let them take orders – we’ve already seen where that has led them, and we’ll see where it leads in the future," the Prime Minister concluded.
