The United Kingdom is intensifying efforts to remove the “Georgian Dream” government from power in Georgia. This information is being reported by Russian media based on a statement from the press service of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.
"London plans to significantly increase funding for Georgian opposition non-governmental organizations, aiming to radicalize their anti-government activities," the statement from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service says.
According to the agency, "the UK wants to launch a new round of struggle to remove the Georgian Dream government from power."
"The British intend to push ‘subversively charged’ organizations to unite forces with opposition parties. According to London’s calculations, this should lead to the 'reorganization' of the systemic political opposition, give it a ‘second wind,’ and mobilize it to start a new round of struggle to remove the ruling Georgian Dream from power," the statement continues.
The agency claims that "the rule of Georgian Dream causes them undisguised irritation."
According to Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, "the UK Foreign Office has selected around 100 youth and student associations, feminist movements, and LGBT groups in various regions of Georgia for the purpose of conducting subversive activities."
"Special importance is being given to training ‘activists’ in subversive methods. Future fighters are being taught how to confront the police during protests, avoid the government’s ‘digital’ surveillance, and prepare acts of sabotage," the agency says.
It further states that the West is “irritated by Georgia’s desire to free itself from the tutelage of liberal-globalist forces.”
"What especially irritates the West is that Tbilisi, which until recently—under Mikheil Saakashvili’s rule—was seen as the ‘locomotive of democratization’ in the South Caucasus, is now increasingly veering toward an ‘authoritarian path’ and placing national interests first. London does not care about the Georgian people, who clearly supported the country’s national course in the elections held last year," the statement concludes.
