Nika Gvaramia will be arrested in court like Zurab Japaridze, or he will be kidnapped like Melia and an additional fake story will be created, - Giorgi Butikashvili, a member of the Coalition for Change, told PalitraNews.
As Butikashvili noted, despite everything, the Coalition for Change will continue its fight.
“Ivanishvili’s Russian regime has begun to turn not only activists and journalists into political prisoners, but also politicians. This is their declared policy, which is identical to the Russian one.
There are two scenarios: Nika Gvaramia will be arrested during the trial like Zurab Japaridze, or they will kidnap him like Melia was kidnapped before that and create an additional fake story. They have not yet made a statement as to why Melia was arrested on administrative charges. This is a lie from beginning to end. We are waiting for the arrest, but it does not mean that the party will stop. We will continue the fight we’ve started,” Butikashvili noted.
Nika Gvaramia, the leader of the Coalition for Change, addressed the Prosecutor’s Office on social media yesterday and wrote that the deadline for paying bail had expired.
For information, Nika Gvaramia was summoned to give an explanation to the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament of Georgia, where he did not appear. In this regard, he has been charged under Article 349 of the Criminal Code, which refers to "refusal to comply with the request of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Parliament of Georgia." This is punishable by a fine, or imprisonment for a term of up to one year, or deprivation of the right to hold a position or engage in activity for a term of up to three years.
Nika Gvaramia has been granted bail of 30,000 GEL as a preventive measure.
Nika Gvaramia has been given a 50-day period to pay the bail, which expired on June 7. The politician's position on this matter has been made public; he does not intend to pay the bail.
