"Some people think political processes are just about attaching labels and insulting others on Facebook! That’s exactly why we’re in this situation. We believe that if we defeat the government in the local elections as well, the call for new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners will grow stronger," — the leader of “Lelo – For Strong Georgia,” Mamuka Khazaradze, told journalists.
Khazaradze emphasized today that serious discussions must be held — within the format of the four-party coalition — regarding participation in the local elections.
According to him, they will meet with the mothers of political prisoners and activists who are open to reasonable dialogue and arguments.
Khazaradze also noted that "some group is trying to impose a position on everyone — maybe it's right, maybe it's not."
"The situation in the country is quite severe. We call on everyone to dedicate all the strength, knowledge, and energy we have to reasoned discussion and not to repeat the mistakes that the opposition has made many times in the past. That’s why Bidzina Ivanishvili has been in power for 13 years.
The format of the four-party coalition is the one that won the elections and is demanding parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners. What's better — a boycott or participation in the elections? Our position is clear: we always support engaging in the fight," Khazaradze said.
