Georgia and Hungary face similar challenges, and standing together to address these challenges is, of course, crucial. I want to thank you for your support, and Georgia will always stand where the interests of the Hungarian people lie, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to his Hungarian counterpart during a joint press conference.

The head of government expressed special gratitude to the Hungarian Prime Minister for supporting Georgia’s European path and noted that the Georgian government’s plan is for the country to become an EU member by 2030.

“I want to thank you for supporting Georgia’s European path. We have a very clear and ambitious goal – for Georgia to become an EU member state by 2030. By 2028, we have planned to fulfill 90% of the obligations under the Association Agreement, as well as 90% of the obligations under the Free Trade Agreement. In this regard, even expert cooperation and your support in any direction are very important for our country.

We face very similar challenges, and standing together to address these challenges is, of course, crucial. Once again, thank you very much for your support, and Georgia will always stand where the interests of the Hungarian people lie. We feel a duty to reciprocate appropriately for the support we feel and receive from you. The Georgian people appreciate your personal support, Mr. Prime Minister, and Hungary’s support for Georgia. The current state of our partnership creates a very good foundation for further developing our relations, and the dynamics are positive. We will do everything to further strengthen and develop bilateral cooperation between our countries,” the Prime Minister stated.

Additionally, Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about the format of the Georgia-Hungary Intergovernmental Summit, stating that it is very important for the development of bilateral relations.

As the Prime Minister noted, this format was established two years ago, and this year marks the second meeting in this framework.

“This meeting has given us the opportunity to discuss the progress achieved and to jointly outline future plans. I want to thank you and each minister for very interesting discussions. We addressed various issues related to the development of bilateral relations between our countries. This included trade and economic relations, energy and connectivity issues, environmental protection, agriculture, defense, justice, education, and culture. We touched on all sectors within this format. It can be confidently said that we have great potential for further deepening relations in all these areas, and we will do everything to maximize this potential.

I am also pleased that several memoranda were signed today in various fields, and of course, these agreements will contribute to the further development and deepening of relations between our countries.

All aspects of our relations are important to us. We have very close political relations, as evidenced by the frequent exchange of visits and meetings between us. We attach great importance to the future development of this cooperation.

We also discussed trade and economic relations today. We emphasized how important it is not only to have cooperation between governments but also between business sectors to deepen economic and trade partnerships between our countries,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
