The research that the public has seen confirms one thing: the majority of voters are demanding change in the country.
However, when it comes to how this change should be implemented and what kind of proposals political forces should put forward, we see that society does not have a clearly defined position on this — said Salome Samadashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo – For a Strong Georgia, while assessing the results of the ISSA study.
According to her, it is important for the public to become familiar with this research in order to better understand the current situation in the country.
“I believe this research, which the public has seen, confirms one thing: the majority of voters are demanding change in the country. As for the policies carried out by the government, the level and intensity of public dissatisfaction continues to grow.
Regarding how these changes should be implemented and what kind of proposals political forces should offer, we see that society does not have a clearly defined position on this matter — because, nationwide, the majority believes the opposition should participate in [local] elections. However, for example, in the capital, opinions are divided on this issue.
We also see that there is a strong public demand for unity among political forces, but when it comes to how this unity should be achieved, what proposals the political class should present to the public, and what kind of model should be followed — here, too, we see that the public does not have a clearly articulated view. This is natural, since this is a political process that must be planned by political actors themselves.
Still, I think that presenting this research to the public is important so that people can better understand the picture of what is happening in our country today,” said Salome Samadashvili.
