Today I saw in the British Embassy's statement that they do not agree with the idea that they are funding propaganda and extremism, their behavior is already similar to the behavior of a child who hides a stolen item in his hand and when asked what he has in his hand, he says, "nothing", - said the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, responding to the statement of the British Embassy.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the actions of the British Embassy are a violation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement.
"It is a violation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement when the embassy hides who it is funding. Today I saw in the British Embassy's statement that they do not agree with the idea that they are funding propaganda and extremism. This behavior of the British Embassy is already similar to the behavior of a child who hides some stolen item in his fist and when asked what he has in his fist, he says "nothing." This is how the British Embassy responds, and I think that adults will not believe such childish answers and will demand that they open their fist. My question to the British Embassy was not whether it agrees with the accusation that it is funding propaganda and extremism, but rather that this was an accusation that requires an answer and arguments," said Shalva Papuashvili.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the British Embassy's statements are like "shooting themselves in the foot" because they are harming themselves with these statements.
“The recent series of statements from the British Embassy that we are hearing is a bit strange. Judging by the tone of the statements, it seems that they think they are going to shoot, and in fact they are shooting themselves in the foot with these statements and harming themselves again. Just as they hurt themselves last time and shot themselves in the foot in that they supposedly had a critical, consent procedure that was not completed and thus revealed that they were going to finance propaganda and extremism and harmed themselves again.
This statement has two parts, and as for the local elections, observers, it is truly hypocritical when Britain, which does not recognize the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion regarding the 2024 elections, is now demanding, or proposing an OSCE/ODIHR mission. In 2024, many, including Britain, were saying that this would be the decisive and most important report regarding the elections, but as soon as they looked into it and did not like the results and content of the report, they pushed this report aside. We remember the phone call of the British Foreign Minister to the Georgian Foreign Minister, when he wrote that he had spoken to the minister of Georgia Dream. Of course, this was a shameful statement and was completely out of line with the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion. When you do not recognize the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion and consider it a piece of paper, then to talk seriously about the fact that the OSCE/ODIHR is important, this is, of course, hypocrisy and frivolous. I am very sorry that the British Embassy makes such simple mistakes,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
