NGOs: We condemn the enforcement of Russian laws – We do not and will not live by Russian rules

Georgian non-governmental organizations condemn the enforcement of Russian laws, according to a joint statement by these organizations.

The Georgian NGOs express solidarity with their colleagues who have been approached by the Anti-Corruption Bureau with demands for “comprehensive and confidential information.”

As noted in the joint statement by some of the non-governmental organizations, this demand lacks any legal basis or legitimate interest and serves as a mechanism for political retribution.

Representatives of the third sector declare that they “do not and will not live by Russian rules.”

“We, representatives of Georgian civil society, express solidarity with our colleagues—Civil Society Foundation, Transparency International Georgia, Sapari, Academy of the Future, and Economic Policy Research Center—against whom, on June 17, the Ivanishvili-Kuprashvili Anti-Corruption Bureau, using Murusidze’s court, made demands for comprehensive and confidential information. This demand is neither based on legal grounds nor legitimate interest. It represents a mechanism for political retribution aimed at suppressing critical voices. The requested information includes personal, banking, medical, and social data about our beneficiaries—women, children, victims of violence, minorities, and socially vulnerable individuals. Protecting them is our professional and moral obligation. We declare clearly and unanimously—no one stands alone in this fight. This ideological and institutional persecution against civil society is a direct replication of the Russian model. We will not surrender Georgia’s future—not to Ivanishvili’s regime, not to Murusidze’s court, nor to the authoritarian systems of Putin and Lukashenko.

We fight together—for each other, for our beneficiaries, and for a free Georgia.

We do not and will not live by Russian rules,” states the joint statement of the non-governmental organizations, joined by:
