The European Parliament has already turned into a breeding ground for this Baltic lobby group - I am sure that they do not care about the fate of Mzia Amaglobeli or the young man who hit a policeman in the head with a baton in front of our eyes, - the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, said when speaking about the European Parliament.

According to him, specific MEPs are lobbying for lack of control, bloodshed, and the organization of the Maidan in Georgia, although, according to Volski, Georgian Dream will not allow this.

"The European Parliament has already turned into a breeding ground for this Baltic lobby group. They have formed a certain strategy regarding Georgia and are spreading these hostile acts every day, including through these resolutions. How can you talk about Saakashvili as a person who is innocent, when many families and specific people have been seriously affected personally by his actions and the sadistic rule he created. Specific crimes have been committed. It is a sad fact, but there was also a beating with a stick and a slap on a policeman. Therefore, what have these people, specific European parliamentarians, been lobbying for over the years?! That there should be no control here?! That the process they planned should be allowed to develop here?! - This is bloodshed in the country, the organization of the Maidan. Of course, we cannot allow this. It is a rather serious propaganda resource that they are using, and the collective “National Movement" is using it. It's over. There is no other scenario beyond this. I am sure that they do not care about either Mzia Amaglobeli or the young man who hit a police officer in the head with a baton in front of us. It is precisely these people who have initiated, encouraged and provoked that people often behave in a way that harms Georgia. It is precisely these people who today, with these posters and banners, appear to us as defenders of democracy,” said Volski.

For information, the European Parliament adopted a resolution entitled “Media freedom in Georgia and the case of Mzia Amaglobeli”. According to the resolution, the European Parliament demands the immediate and unconditional release of Mzia Amaglobeli and the dropping of all charges against him. The European Parliament also calls on the Georgian authorities to immediately release all political prisoners and other illegally detained persons, including activist Mate Davidze, opposition leaders Zurab Japaridze, Nika Melia and Nika Gvaramia, as well as former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
