Shalva Papuashvili: Today is June 20, the day when the plan for radicalizing politics in Georgia was fully revealed - the beginning of all this behavior that we see on the streets today can rightly be considered the violent storming of the parliament on June 20

Today is June 20. The day when the plan, structure and form of radicalization of politics in Georgia were fully revealed after 2012, the Speaker of the Parliament writes on social media.

As he notes, this is the day when “activists, fed up with the rhetoric of hatred for years, especially their vulnerable and exalted part, were brought out onto the battlefield by the revanchist politicians of the National Movement and were allowed to take over the parliament.”

According to him, as the public remembers, the storming of the parliament was christened by internal and external radicals as a “sincere protest of the people,” and since then, this propaganda trick has been used in every attempt at a violent revolution.

“The fact that the Parliament building was violently stormed on June 20, 2019, five years later, was fully confirmed by the Strasbourg Court in its decision in the case “Tsaava and Others v. Georgia”.

On June 20, we saw that political forces, unable to gain the support of the people in the elections, decided to act on the instructions of 2003 and come to power from the streets.

In order to inspire the violent process on the streets, the National Movement and their party media have been brainwashing listeners for years, dulling their ability to adequately understand the events and filling them with disgust. We remember their doctrine that “in the 21st century, perceptions, not facts, decide everything” and their tireless efforts to fuel false perceptions that they favor.

It is important to understand these preconditions – the dominance of perceptions over facts – that prepared the backdrop for the Gavrilov incident, so that instead of a trivial excess, the story was considered a premeditated evil intent. As a result, we saw a lot of emotions, hysteria, fanned flames, poured kerosene, wild behavior, and the unfortunate role of Giorgi Gakharia.

We remember all this. But from the perspective of six years later, everything is much clearer and more obvious. The main thing we saw on June 20 was the unification of activists fed by NGOs and their participation in a radical political scenario; We have seen the involvement of foreigners in the country's internal politics, not just choosing sides, but choosing the proven guilty side and, just like today, justifying violence and extremism. Moreover, providing further funding for these violent groups. Let us recall that Nika Melia's bail was paid by an EU institution in the June 20 case. Later, we will also learn that the transformation of the June 20 violent groups - "Shame", "Time" and others - into organized groups and the provision of street campaigns were entirely carried out by foreign donor organizations”, the Speaker said.
