"Regardless of any decision, I send this message very clearly to Bidzina Ivanishvili – there is no force that can make me and my team fear you," stated Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of "Lelo – Strong Georgia," during a press briefing.
According to him, he refuses to participate in the work of an "illegitimate commission because this parliament is illegitimate."
"As always, we want to be very clear because we are responsible to our voters, to Georgia, and to its future. Badri and I were the first to refuse to attend that unconstitutionally and illegitimately created parliament, and since then, political persecution began. This was a political statement. Accordingly, we refused to comply. You know that I was summoned a second time, and they received a very clear response immediately. We have no intention of participating in the work of an illegitimate commission a second, third, or tenth time because this parliament is illegitimate, and it will never be recognized by us. I want to state one thing very clearly: there is no force that can diminish our resolve, our spirit, or our fight, or push us toward any compromise. Today, we may see various types of decisions, perhaps even imprisonment, but regardless of any decision, I send this message very clearly to Bidzina Ivanishvili – there is no force that can make me and my team fear you. I said this before, and I will repeat it again. This fight is for our country’s future, for freedom, for integration with the free world, and not with countries whose leaders’ memorials your so-called prime minister attends. This is the fight, this is the difference between us. This is why we are in politics," Khazaradze stated.
He also said that he has no intention of leaving the country.
"For 5 years, you pursued us to impose a 12-year sentence. We didn’t leave the country, and I’m telling you, we’re not planning to leave the country now either. The fight will continue, our team is ready for the fight, and we will see this fight through to the end. My solidarity goes to Zurab Japaridze, our friend and comrade-in-arms. Wherever we may be, we will continue the fight. This country has only one bright future: to liberate it once and for all from occupation, and we will absolutely do this!" Khazaradze declared.
