Any person who, in any form - verbally, through obscene or other actions, in any circumstances - expresses disrespect to a judge during a court session or in a public space will be held responsible. This is one of a number of changes reflected in the Law on Common Courts”.

Within the framework of the same draft, the circle of subjects of illegal communication with a judge is expanding - a subject will be considered not only a person interested in the outcome of a specific case under consideration, but also “any other person who attempts to communicate improperly with a judge in order to influence the independence of a judge or the judicial system in general”.

According to the draft law, any subject is prohibited from undermining the independence of the court in any form, and it will also be prohibited to influence a judge in any way due to a decision already made or with the aim of influencing a decision to be made in the future.

Amendments to the Law on Common Courts have been prepared by Georgian Dream MPs. The draft has been initiated in Parliament. It will be considered in an expedited manner.
