"The economy is the main driving force behind a country’s development. The improvement of our population’s social conditions, the strengthening of our democratic system, and the consolidation of our foreign policy positions all rest on the economy. Therefore, the development and growth of the economy are of key importance for strengthening our country," said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze during his annual address to Parliament.

The Prime Minister noted that the government’s 150-page report covers all areas of governmental activity, though it does not reflect every project implemented by government agencies. The report mainly focuses on projects carried out by ministries over the past 12 months.

Irakli Kobakhidze spoke about Georgia’s economic indicators for 2024 and stated that economic growth this year reached 9.4%, successfully maintaining the trend that has continued since 2021.

“In 2025 as well, economic growth for January through April was 8.8%, meaning we are still maintaining a high growth rate this year. Preliminary data for May is also very promising, and it can be said that not only will we meet the target set in the budget plan, but we will surpass it. The International Monetary Fund also raised its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth in 2025 to 7.2%, and we believe it is entirely realistic not only to reach that figure but to exceed it. We are seeing very positive trends—last year we had high economic growth, and this year is showing the same. The most important thing is to do everything necessary to maintain this strong growth rate,” said the Prime Minister.
