"We are a small country, and accordingly, we cannot win big wars. Nor do we want to engage in either big or small wars. In such circumstances, the main arena where Georgians can raise the Georgian flag and play the Georgian anthem at the highest level is sports," said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his annual report to Parliament, responding to deputies’ questions.
As he noted, sports is one of the most tangible fields where the results of specific investments are clearly visible.
"We are a small country, and accordingly, we cannot win big wars. Nor do we want to engage in either big or small wars. In such circumstances, the main arena where Georgians can raise the Georgian flag and play the Georgian anthem at the highest level is sports. Therefore, the achievements of our athletes are highly commendable. A particularly notable achievement is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s victory in the Champions League, and I want to congratulate him on this success. Sports is one of the most tangible fields where the results of specific investments are clearly visible. Our task is to achieve tangible results in all areas, as we have in sports. We want to develop our country to the maximum in every direction. I promise that the Georgian government will spare no effort or work," Kobakhidze stated.
