According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in June 2025, the inflation rate in Georgia was -0.01% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate stood at 4.0%.
As stated in the information released by GeoStat, the core inflation rate in June 2025 was 2.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, while the core inflation rate excluding tobacco was determined at 2.2%.
"The formation of the monthly inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices decreased by 0.4%, contributing -0.15 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. During this period, prices decreased in the subgroups of vegetables and garden produce (-8.4%), sugar, jam, and other sweets (-0.9%), and mineral and spring water, soft drinks, and natural juices (-0.3%). Conversely, prices increased in the subgroups of fish (1.9%), fruits and grapes (1.2%), meat and meat products (0.8%), milk, cheese, and eggs (0.7%), oils and fats (0.6%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (0.5%), and bread and bakery products (0.5%).
Clothing and footwear: Prices decreased by 1.4%, contributing -0.07 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. Prices decreased in both footwear (-3.9%) and clothing (-0.2%) subgroups.
Transport: Prices decreased by 0.6%, contributing -0.06 percentage points to the monthly inflation rate. Prices decreased for the operation of personal transport vehicles (-0.9%) and the purchase of transport vehicles (-0.5%). However, prices increased for transport services (0.6%).
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: Prices increased by 2.2%, contributing 0.14 percentage points to the monthly index. Prices increased for both alcoholic beverages (2.8%) and tobacco products (1.5%).
Regarding annual inflation, the formation of the annual inflation rate was primarily influenced by price changes in the following groups:
Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices increased by 10.1%, contributing 3.34 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. Prices increased in the subgroups of vegetables and garden produce (26.3%), oils and fats (20.6%), coffee, tea, and cocoa (15.4%), mineral and spring water, soft drinks, and natural juices (10.3%), bread and bakery products (9.6%), sugar, jam, and other sweets (8.7%), fish (7.9%), milk, cheese, and eggs (7.1%), meat and meat products (3.6%), and fruits and grapes (2.7%).
Healthcare: Prices increased by 9.4%, contributing 0.79 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. Prices increased for outpatient medical services (10.4%), hospital services (9.2%), and medical products, equipment, and appliances (8.4%).
Miscellaneous goods and services: Prices increased by 6.7%, contributing 0.33 percentage points to the overall index. Prices mainly increased in the subgroups of personal items not included in other categories (18.2%), insurance (8.7%), financial services (5.4%), and personal hygiene (4.7%).
Transport: Prices decreased by 5.3%, contributing -0.64 percentage points to the annual inflation rate. Prices decreased for the operation of personal transport vehicles (-8.1%) and transport services (-0.8%)," the statement reads.
