Representatives of the Russian regime took another treacherous step by not supporting a resolution that called on the new Syrian government to revoke the recognition of Georgia’s temporarily occupied territories by Russia, as the resolution also addressed the need for new parliamentary elections in Georgia, said Giorgi Baramidze, the political secretary of the United National Movement.
According to Giorgi Baramidze, the authorities have no regard for the interests of the country and the Georgian people and will do everything to retain opportunities for financial gain.
"Last week, at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, representatives of this regime of traitors and criminals took another treacherous step by not supporting a resolution that urged the new Syrian government to annul and withdraw the recognition of Georgia’s temporarily occupied territories—Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region—and to respect Georgia’s territorial integrity. The representatives of this regime of traitors did not support this resolution because it includes a call for new elections to be held in Georgia. For them, the priority is to remain in power, as they know that in relatively fair elections, they would be defeated. Their main goal is to hold onto the levers of power at any cost, and resolutions regarding Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region mean nothing to them. They have no regard for Georgia’s interests and territorial integrity, or the national interests of our people and country. For them, money and power are paramount. They will do anything to preserve opportunities for financial gain, even selling out their own people.
We also heard Ambassador Degnan’s interview, which shows how regime representatives treat our strategic partners and friends, destroying decades of built relationships. It is significant that Degnan emphasized the fact that for Bidzina Ivanishvili—the leader of this criminal gang—personal interests take precedence,” Baramidze stated.
According to Giorgi Baramidze, against this backdrop, the uncompromising struggle against the authorities must continue, and parties must say no to the Russian special operation, which they want to disguise as “local elections.”
“This is exactly why our uncompromising struggle must continue. We must say no to the Russian special operation they want to pass off as local elections. We must be united, uncompromising, unbroken, and consistent. Therefore, the decision of the parties ‘Lelo-Strong Georgia’ and ‘Gakharia-For Georgia’ is harmful and a betrayal of the Georgian people’s interests. We once again call on them to come to their senses and not play the Russian regime’s game. Participating in this special operation is not entering a fight but joining the ‘Georgian Dream’ cause and the Russian special operation, a step toward legitimizing the regime, even though nothing can legitimize this regime. Their choice is wrong and harmful.
Whatever Bidzina Ivanishvili and his servile subordinates—the CEC, the Prosecutor’s Office, the courts, etc.—decide in the elections, those numbers will be recorded. Therefore, the notion that the vast majority of Tbilisi’s population is opposition-minded… it was the same during the parliamentary elections. It is unfortunate if they are content with coming in second or third place and securing salaries for their representatives in the city council. They are betraying both themselves and the people. What is planned for October 4 is not an election,” Baramidze stated.
