Elene Khoshtaria: The resolution is the voice of the Georgian people heard by the European Parliament

"The resolution is the voice of the Georgian people heard by the European Parliament — both in its assessment of the current situation in the country and in outlining a way out of it.

With this, a verdict has been delivered against Georgian Dream, and the resolution expresses overwhelming support for all the positions voiced on Rustaveli Avenue and within our great pro-European, pro-Georgian struggle," — said Elene Khoshtaria, one of the leaders of the “Coalition for Change,” during a briefing.

According to Khoshtaria, the European Parliament’s resolution is "a truly significant victory for our pro-Western, pro-Georgian, and nationally-driven collective struggle."

"The text of the European Parliament’s resolution is not my own words, not the coalition’s words, not those of opposition parties, nor of the people standing on Rustaveli. This is the voice of the Georgian people, as heard by the European Parliament — both in its evaluation of the situation and in its vision for a solution. The European Parliament has adopted a crucial document, the result of two years of assessment, and it has delivered a verdict against Georgian Dream, while at the same time offering immense support and, in fact, deep respect for every position, feeling, and thought expressed on Rustaveli and in our great pro-European, pro-Georgian movement."

"This resolution also includes specific punitive measures against Georgian Dream — measures that are quite painful. Europe is demonstrating its readiness to act. That is why this is truly a major victory for our pro-Western, pro-Georgian, nationally-driven struggle. Every person who is fighting — whether watching us now from a prison cell, standing on Rustaveli Avenue, in a courtroom yard, or anywhere else — must know that every action they take holds great meaning, because it is being heard by the world and by representatives of the most powerful countries in Europe," Khoshtaria stated.
