Ivanishvili continues to evade personal sanctions by using Orban and he sanctions the Georgian people, endangers visa-free travel and makes it possible for three million Georgians to be sanctioned because he avoids personal sanctions, - said the chairwoman of the National Movement, Tina Bokuchava.
According to her, "the European Union has sent a letter to Ivanishvili's de facto government." Tina Bokuchava categorically demands that the letter be made public.
"Yesterday, a very important EU ministerial was held in Brussels, from which we learned three important things - we learned that Europe has taken action. Until now, there have been many warnings and concerns about Ivanishvili's regime, but now Europe has said that today is the time to act. This is the first and most important thing we learned about the ministerial.
Second, the EU has sent a letter to Ivanishvili's de facto government. We categorically demand that the de facto government make the aforementioned letter public, not because we do not know what is written in this letter, but so that the citizens of Georgia, including people who may still be supporters of Ivanishvili's regime, consciously or unconsciously, correctly perceive the danger that our country and every citizen of Georgia face. I would very much like to say, against the backdrop of this disinformation and propaganda that the "Russian Dream" always spreads in order to deceive its own people, the society see the truth, the citizens of Georgia see the truth.
This truth is as follows - if Ivanishvili's regime does not release political prisoners, does not withdraw draconian laws, and does not create an environment in the country where new, does not hold free elections by August 31, the European Union will take action. Unfortunately, this action will mean suspending the visa-free regime.
We have been working for a very long time to sanction Ivanishvili personally and to ensure that these sanctions do not affect Georgian citizens, but unfortunately, we see that Ivanishvili is using Putin's ally, Viktor Orban, in the European Union to avoid sanctions. This is precisely the third thing that has become clear to the public once again.
Ivanishvili continues to evade personal sanctions using Orban and he sanctions the Georgian people, endangering visa-free travel and making it possible for three million Georgians to be sanctioned because he avoids personal sanctions. To be clear, personal sanctions require consensus, that is, the consent of all member states, while suspending visa-free travel requires only a qualified majority. This decision can be made by the EU without Orban, using Putin and his only ally. He endangers visa-free travel, which is a very big threat to every citizen of Georgia. Therefore, we must act, we must unite, we must consolidate, so that by August 31 we do everything we can to force the regime to fulfill, first of all, the legitimate demands of the Georgian people. The demands that are mentioned in the EU letter and which we demand in principle to be made public, so that the Georgian people can see the truth with their own eyes," said Tina Bokuchava.
