“Giorgi Gakharia is a situational liar, which has been proven multiple times,” said Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament, in a statement to journalists.

According to Papuashvili’s assessment, Giorgi Gakharia lacks the ability to take responsibility and flees from the country in every situation.

“At the investigative commission, he said two different things within three minutes—he claimed he couldn’t remember who he spoke to the day before his resignation. Five minutes later, he said he met with the U.S. Ambassador. We know that he ultimately resigned from his position following instructions from foreign ambassadors. He is a situational liar. At the same time, we see that he lacks the ability to take responsibility; he flees from every situation. He fled from ‘Georgian Dream’ in 2021, and now he has fled from his own party. He keeps running and lying at the same time. Everyone can see his profile and what kind of values he represents,” Papuashvili stated.

Additionally, the Speaker of the Parliament commented on the investigative actions related to the June 20 case.

As he noted, non-governmental organizations and their donors remain silent on this issue.

“There are procedures underway. It’s interesting that NGOs and their donors are silent about this today. We see that they seem to find no issue with it, despite the direct instruction from the Strasbourg Court. The essence of the court’s decision is that a more detailed investigation should be conducted. The investigation is ongoing, and we will see what results it yields,” Papuashvili stated.
