8 opposition parties that refuse to participate in the local elections are starting to “organize members of resistance” in the regions, the goal of which is to “spread the political struggle in every city and village.”

The political parties made a joint statement about this at the rally in front of the parliament. The statement was presented to the citizens by Levan Tsutskiridze, the leader of Freedom Square.

“The Ivanishvili regime is planning another Russian special operation in Georgia on October 4. We, the 8 pro-Western forces, will not become accomplices of the regime in deceiving the citizens of Georgia. We will not participate in the Russian special operation of October 4 and will not sacrifice the citizens of Georgia for an existential threat. We will not participate in legitimizing the chaos and injustice created by Ivanishvili’s criminal regime. We recognize only free parliamentary elections, which we will definitely achieve through principled and consistent isolation of the regime. The complete isolation of the Russian regime will inevitably be followed by its dismantling, as a result of which people will regain the seized power and, through free elections, will grant a mandate to political parties in order to end the chaos and establish a secure, democratic Georgian state. Our path to victory is the unity of society and non-cooperation with the regime, continuous, peaceful resistance, intensifying joint work on the international isolation of the regime. To accomplish these tasks, we are taking appropriate steps, we did not recognize the farce called parliament and refused mandates, we did not recognize the farce called the investigative commission at the cost of personal freedom, we worked with international and protest groups to achieve the international isolation of the regime. This effort, together with the unceasing protest of the Georgian people, has shaken the regime and caused internal conflicts within Ivanishvili’s gang. In order for change to occur and bring results that will return us to the historical path, a systemic reset of Georgian politics is vital. For this very purpose, we are starting to “organize members of resistance” in all cities and municipalities of Georgia in order for the political struggle to unfold in each city and village and to build on the momentum emanating from the people, their interests and energy,” the statement states.
