Shalva Papuashvili: The use of the tactic of labeling as "Russian" by the EU Spokesperson, instead of answering the legitimate questions of the Georgian people, is already an answer

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, echoes the statement of the EU Spokesperson and states that "the use of the tactic of labeling as Russian is already an answer".

"The use of the tactic of labeling as "Russian" by the EU Spokesperson, instead of answering the legitimate questions of the Georgian people, is an answer", - Papuashvili writes.

As a reminder, the EU issued a statement signed by the EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Anouar El Anouni, in which it strongly rejects and condemns the Georgian authorities' disinformation and baseless accusations regarding the EU's role in Georgia.

It is noted that recent statements spreading false information, claiming the EU is attempting to destabilize Georgia, drag it into war, or impose so-called 'non-traditional values,' represent deliberate attempts to mislead the public..

The statement also states that “undermining EU-Georgia relations with Russian-style conspiracy theories and divisive narratives only serves those who oppose Georgia’s democratic and European path.”

The EU also strongly condemns the personal attacks against the EU Ambassador to Georgia [Pawel Herchinsky], noting that the Ambassador plays a vital role in the development of EU-Georgia relations and enjoys the EU’s full trust and support.

The EU calls on all political actors in Georgia to refrain from spreading disinformation, to avoid provocative personal attacks, and to work for a European future for their own people.

The European Union declares itself to be a consistent and reliable partner to Georgia and reaffirms its unwavering support for the territorial integrity of Georgia and once again expresses its steadfast solidarity with the Georgian people and its readiness to continue supporting Georgians on their path towards a European future.
