Shalva Papuashvili: “This obsession of the Baltic countries is no longer even serious. It’s hard to explain the particular hostility they have toward the Georgian people.]”

According to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the Baltic countries are pursuing a hostile policy against the Georgian people. Papuashvili assesses their stance as anti-Georgian and states that this is the culmination of a policy that has been ongoing for years.

“This obsession of the Baltic countries is no longer even serious. It’s hard to explain the particular hostility they have toward the Georgian people. The fact is their hostile policy against the Georgian people. These three countries, which should theoretically understand the challenges our country faces, are, for some reason, the ones that have turned against the Georgian people. This is the culmination of the manifestation of this hostile policy.

Let’s recall previous years: who were Saakashvili’s supporters? It was the Baltic political elite. Who was it that always tried to stir things up by pushing Saakashvili in our faces? It was the Baltic political elite. What we see now is the culmination of the anti-Georgian policy that, unfortunately, has been pursued in the Baltic countries,” Shalva Papuashvili stated regarding Lithuania’s sanctions against ten Georgian citizens.

As a reminder, Lithuania has imposed visa sanctions on 10 more Georgian citizens, prohibiting them from entering the country.

More specifically, according to information published on the website of the Lithuanian Migration Department, the sanctions were imposed on:

Judge Nino Galustashvili,

Judge Jvebe Nachkebia,

Judge Irakli Shvangiradze,

Judge Viktor Metreveli,

Prosecutor Mari Meshveliani,

Prosecutor Natia Tatiashvili,

Chairman of the Adjara Government Sulkhan Tamazashvili,

Member of Parliament Mariam Lashkhi,

Member of Parliament Nino Tsilosani,

Head of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Razhden Kuprashvili.

In total, according to the Lithuanian Migration Department’s search system, 112 Georgian citizens are currently subject to visa restrictions.
