Shalva Papuashvili on Khazaradze-Japaridze: They failed to build a port and have now come to destroy their own country - those foreign politicians who, from now on, will shake their hands are the patrons of this fraud against the Georgian people

They failed to build the port and have now come to destroy their own country - we should know that those foreign politicians and diplomats who, from now on, will shake hands with them are the patrons of this fraud directed against the Georgian people, - the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili writes on Facebook, responding to the statement of the Ministry of Justice that Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze lost a dispute over the Anaklia Port case in the Washington arbitration.

In addition, Papuashvili names the decisions made against Khazaradze and Japaridze by both national and international courts.

“They failed to build the port and have now come to destroy their own country.

They demanded $1.5 billion from the pockets of citizens, but they had to return $7.1 million to the budget themselves, not to mention the millions that were wasted, as it turned out, on poorly qualified lawyers. This is the end of every scammer’s case.

Before that, there was another scam that ended with a court verdict, when $17 million was fraudulently stolen from a bank. For this scheme, Khazaradze and Japaridze were sentenced to 7 years each, and the bank admitted and paid a fine of $3 million.

Three years ago, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) accepted these scammers as members. This is also a good indication of the morality of this alliance.

Now, it is important to see, after the exposure of these scammers by one national and two international courts, whether they will be retained as members and whether the suspicions in society that Khazaradze and Japaridze simply bought their ALDE membership are confirmed.

And we should know that those foreign politicians and diplomats who will shake their hands from today are the patrons of this fraud directed against the Georgian people,” Papuashvili writes.

For information, according to the Ministry of Justice, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze lost the dispute over the Anaklia port in the Washington arbitration institution.

"The Washington Arbitration (World Bank's International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes - ICSID) has issued a decision on the Anaklia Port case and fully satisfied the Georgian government's demands. This time, the Washington Arbitration has confirmed that the failure to implement the Anaklia Port project is entirely the responsibility of Mamuka Khazaradze, Badri Japaridze and their partners, and there has been no interference in any way by the Georgian government," reads the statement.
