“These people constantly talk about a peaceful revolution, sometimes a non-peaceful one, about overthrowing the government — yet a ‘peaceful overthrow’ is, by its very nature, an oxymoron; it contains an internal contradiction.”
This is what Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated regarding the upcoming local elections.
He noted that there are about two months left until the elections, and the opposition still hasn't agreed on a candidate for Tbilisi mayor.
“Our sole objective is to win both the mayoral and city council elections in all 64 municipalities,” Kobakhidze said.
According to him, the opposition has failed to implement any of its plans since 2016.
“There are about two months left before the elections, and the opposition still hasn't agreed on a candidate for Tbilisi mayor. The names being discussed as potential candidates show how much the opposition is struggling — but that’s their problem. We’re not interested in how they are preparing for the elections; we care about how we are preparing. As you can see, we are preparing actively. Our only goal is to win both the mayoral and city council elections in all 64 municipalities, and I’m absolutely confident that we will win both in every single one. We have our own agenda, and we are fully focused on it.
You can see that these people constantly talk about peaceful revolution, then about non-peaceful revolution, about overthrowing the government. A ‘peaceful overthrow’ is inherently an oxymoron, it contains a contradiction. These are the kinds of plans and instructions they operate on, but as we’ve seen since 2016, they have never managed to carry out any of their plans. Now, they are even weaker than before. So, all of this is just empty fist-waving after a battle — and it certainly doesn’t reflect well on them,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
