The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has arrived at the Batumi City Court, where the final hearing in the criminal case of Netgazeti founder Mzia Amaglobeli is to be held and the defendant herself is to deliver the final speech.
She did not comment for journalists.
The hearing is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Batumi City Court.
The lawyers focus on the illegal detention of Mzia Amaglobeli. According to them, the media manager’s case is political and the government is abusing its power.
In turn, the prosecutor’s office is offering Mzia Amaglobeli’s lawyers a plea agreement.
According to lawyer Maia Mtsariashvili, the prosecutors' offer is "legal manipulation."
The criminal case of Mzia Amaglobeli has been under consideration in the Batumi City Court for almost seven months, during which representatives of embassies of various European countries and the ambassadors themselves have been observing the process.
The fifth President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, was also present at the final court hearing of Mzia Amaglobeli.
For information, the founder of the Batumelebi and Netgazeti is accused of assaulting a police officer.
