“The question now is directed at the German Ambassador. At the time, he acted recklessly and entered into a lease agreement with a radical, fraudulent opposition politician. As a result, the German state has been embroiled in a tax evasion scandal,” stated Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, to journalists.
According to Shalva Papuashvili, Mamuka Khazaradze is a fraudster, and the “Lelo” party is a party created for the purpose of fraud.
“The question is simple—what does he intend to do now? Does he plan to continue contractual relations with an internationally recognized fraudster and extremist politician? Is this what the German Ambassador intends to do, and then, based on this decision, lecture the Georgian people from some moral pedestal? Of course, we will look into this to draw conclusions about what we are dealing with,” Papuashvili stated.
He explained that the German Ambassador should not have entered into a contract with Mamuka Khazaradze.
“At the moment when Ambassador Peter Fischer, on behalf of Germany, entered into a contract with Mamuka Khazaradze in the fall of 2022, Mamuka Khazaradze was already convicted of fraud and had his parliamentary mandate revoked and abandoned. In other words, he was a fraudster and a radical politician. In every sense, the ambassador should have refrained from entering into a contract with this individual,” Papuashvili stated.
According to the Speaker of the Parliament, this has once again exposed Mamuka Khazaradze’s fraud.
“This is yet another exposure. There was the Anaklia issue; he and Japaridze made 17 million dollars disappear from TBC Bank without returning it. TBC Bank had to pay fines and so on. In total, we can draw one conclusion—this person only conducts business when the government creates greenhouse conditions for him. It seems this is how his business is structured, and this is how he made money when the government provided him with favorable conditions. He cannot even properly handle the legal or financial aspects of renting out his own apartment. We see that he was hiding tax-related issues. This has now confirmed Mamuka Khazaradze’s fraud on international, domestic, human, and diplomatic levels. It has also been confirmed that ‘Lelo’ is a party created for the purpose of fraud, with the goal of misappropriating funds from the budget,” Papuashvili stated.
He further clarified that the members and supporters of “Lelo” should know that they are complicit in fraud today.
For reference, the Revenue Service has launched an investigation into media reports that the German Ambassador, Peter Fischer, is renting an apartment in Tbilisi owned by the family of Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of “Lelo for Strong Georgia.” According to the agency, the analysis of this issue revealed a possible tax law violation, prompting the Revenue Service to initiate an investigation into the facts. They stated that tax control measures, as defined by law, will be carried out to thoroughly investigate the information.
